Love Letter to 100 Nerds
(plus the talent, however many of you there were)
My Dearest Darlings,
When I got on a plane to California, I had no idea that I was going to spend the weekend in such a state of inspired bliss that I can still feel it a week after it ended.
When you run across a group of like minded individuals on the Internet, it’s a bonus - witty screen names providing a good way to share jokes and get laughs that you know you won’t have to explain. A nice way to kill some time when you know you should be working. A resource for when you are feeling down in the cultural dumps and you need something new to spice up your day.
When you run across even a small fraction of these people in real life, you know it’s something amazing. The screen names get physicality and the good laughs at the shared jokes are loud and frequent. Handshakes turn to hugs, and hugs turn to bonds, and by the end of the weekend I was so enchanted with all of you that I didn’t want to leave.
You’re all so brilliant and funny and well-dressed and charming, and I wish I could have brought you all back to DC with me.
I hope we meet again soon, my darlings.
