Recipe for a Perfect Fourth of July
Here’s my fail safe recipe for celebrating your 4th with friends, family and strangers.
1 parking lot
2 cars full of friends
2 more cars full of friends and babies
3 cars full of strangers (and more babies)
1 fireworks show
Optional: 1 case of cold beer, red cups
Combine and top with 1 iPod containing the following:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Zero”
Jackson 5 “I Want You Back”
Kid Sister “Pro Nails”
Michael Jackson “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough”
T.I. f/Rihanna “Livin’ My Life”
Archie Bell And The Drells “Tighten Up”
Michael Jackson “P.Y.T.”
Usher f/Young Jeezy “Love In This Club”
Lily Allen “Everyone’s At It”
Jackson 5 “The Love You Save”
Kanye West “Robocop”
M.I.A. “Paper Planes”
Michael Jackson “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”
Andrew WK “We Want Fun”
Mark Ronson f/Robbie Williams “The Only One I Know”
Jackson 5 “ABC”
Wale f/Lady Gaga “Chillin’”
KP & Envyi “Shorty Swing My Way”
Michael Jackson “Rock With You”
Van Morrison “Caravan”
May want to consider serving with a side of jumper cables. BEST served as an interlude within a larger, boozy celebration.
Your results may vary but mine included strangers and babies dancing with us, repeated chants of “USA!”, and enough giggles to last a week.
