2011, I’m Closing The Book
Highlights and lowlights:
- An earthquake and a hurricane in one week
- Started infusing vodkas to GREAT success
- The blizzard that wasn’t, back in January, which snarled traffic so badly that one of my pals who works in my neighborhood bailed on his commute home and crashed at my place after a night of barhopping
- January Wilmington trip: all the usual awesomeness, plus day drinking and Elf hunting with Bethany (also cupcakes and hummus to go)
- Went to my first derby bout and it was AWESOME
- Caps games at Looney’s
- FINALLY saw Judah Friedlander live. He totally hugged me. Twice. AND signed a hat for me. NBD.
- One of the most amazing weddings ever
- The advent of my nail obsession
- 10 lovely days in North Carolina, which deserves its own set of bullet points, but I don’t know how to do second level bullets, so: taking Isaiah to his first movie, Fourth of July fireworks at Carolina Beach, Fourth of July fireworks in Wilmington, the Jeep/Sonic/Rain incident, beach time, frozen drinks galore, BBQ
- Travel: NC twice, Tacoma, Minneapolis, Arrowhead/Ontario/Rancho
- Cookout and ghost hunting in Gettysburg for Erin’s birthday
- Speaking of Erin, the announcement that Baby ERod will be making three in that family!
- Speaking of major life events, Chris and Rachel (finally) got engaged!
- Speaking of pulling triggers, I learned how to shoot guns! With some really old new friends!
- Left a less than ideal job for a better job
- Got laid off from the better job after two months
- Made the decision to uberlist my way through 2012. As far as I can get with the possibility of being unemployed, at least.
Bring it on, 2012. Top this list. I’m ready to make this happen. Give me the means to have an amazing year peppered with “meh” moments, instead of the other way around. Help me construct a list of things that happens that’s so long I can’t possibly place them into a digestible list of bullet points.
