Advice to myself (10 years ago)
Earlier today, my good friend Dave posted three bits of advice he would like to give the Dave of 10 years ago. When he asked me earlier this evening if I was going to do the same, I initially said no because I had no idea what I was even doing 10 years ago. But a minute later I realized that that was probably the biggest reason my 10 years ago self needed advice.
Now that it’s mostly come back to me (for the record, I was a legal secretary, wasting time in the evenings and doing pretty much nothing constructive with my life outside of keeping the office organized and the clients placated), I know exactly what I’d say to myself.
Let the boss pay for school! Tell her you’ll do the firm’s website if she’ll sign you up for some design crash courses in addition to the law stuff.
Make some new friends - you’re not doing yourself any favors hanging out with who you’re hanging out with. Most of those life shaping experiences are not a thing anyway. Your time is much better spent elsewhere.
Save some money. You know it will come in handy.
Just save up and buy the REAL Kate Spade. But really. Save up.
