Non Employment, Night 3, Days 4-6
Night 3
Bethesda: friends, beers, bubble bombs and good times! As this series of non-employment day entries is already more personal than I like to get, I’ll just add proverbial insult to proverbial injury and state that I have the best friends ever in LIFE, and if you think your friends are better you’re wrong.
Day 4
Field trip day! I went to Philly, joined by three friends I’ve already known, plus two friends I had never met (I mean, you guys know that the world is made up of people who just aren’t your friends YET, right?). Food and drinks, the Mütter Museum, more drinks, an attempt at Body Worlds 2, more food, and a blissfully solo train ride home (if you’re on the Northeast Corridor and need a train south of Philly on a Saturday night, take the Vermonter, just for God’s sake don’t call it the Vermonster).
Day 5
That train ride was fantastic, but over the course of the two hours it took me to get back to DC it sunk in fully that I was sick. Sniffles, sneezes, watery eyes, etc. Made a “medicine” run to Target in the morning, then spent most of the day in bed in a Benadryl haze, eating Zicam tabs every three hours and drinking Emergen-C and Airborne like it was my job.
Day 6
Housecleaning, lunch eating, errand running, and trying to calm my nerves about being re-employed starting Tuesday morning. Supplementary Zicam and some Benadryl, and more freaking out. Seriously. Freaking out a little.
