In case you were wondering

Here’s how to spend $1500 fixing a noise that you thought a bottle of oil would solve:

  1. Have your mechanic inform you that you weren’t just low on oil, your oil cap has gone completely missing. This will result in
  2. Oil all over the inside of your engine, including on your drive belts and exhaust manifold. This will result in a request to pressure wash your engine.
  3. Make sure those now-oily drive belts were already cracking, so that instead of being cleaned they can just be replaced altogether.
  4. Need new brakes on all 4 wheels instead of just the two you thought needed them.
  5. Be 4,000 miles overdue for your 60K mile maintenance.

Easy as pie!
