Something’s Brewing
You know how sometimes when you’re coming down with something you start to crave foods you don’t eat on a regular basis? Okay, maybe that’s just me, but when I’ve got some kind of illness waking up in me, I can eat a steady diet of Starbucks chai (skim milk, no water, extra pump), lemon Italian ice, and buffalo chicken tenders. Or nuggets, I’m not that picky. As long as there are no bones involved, if it’s fried and doused in hot sauce and comes with a side of ranch, I want it.
So I’m totally in the throes of this phenomenon right now, and it has given birth to one of the most lowbrow-yet-tasty snack ideas I’ve conceived yet. Not wanting to have to house a bag/box of chicken tenders/nugs in my freezer, I had a stroke of genius. I was already going out for Italian ice, so I picked up a bottle of Frank’s, then hit the drive through for a 4-pack of McNuggets and a packet of ranch dressing. It WAS Newman’s Own, so this whole culinary escapade got a LOT classier with that component of the equation. Threw the nugs in a bowl with a liberal dose of hot sauce, tossed them around for a minute, ate with the dressing straight out of the packet poured atop each bite.
You guys. Freaking BRILLIANT. I’m thinking about doing it again tomorrow. Probably Saturday, too.
