Buy Next-To-Nothing August

Guys, I like stuff.

Not to my detriment - I don’t live (tremendously) outside my means, I don’t buy a lot with money I don’t have (sometimes, yes, I put the groceries and gas on my American Express, but that gets paid off at the end of the month) (and okay, yes, sometimes I’ll put a pair of shoes or a book on there as well), I’m not a hoarder, I just place more emphasis on things than I should. And while it’s not harmful, it doesn’t allow me to sock away as much money as I’d like to.

On 7/10, I started keeping track of everything I spent. Every penny, cash or debit, right down to the $2 I spent in the air machines at two different gas stations because I didn’t know how to work the handle at the first one. Some days I spent a lot, I think one or two days I managed to spend nothing (yesterday I went to Louis Vuitton, and while that was planned for, it was still a rather large charge [relatively] at LV).

From August 1 to August 31, I’m going to do the same thing. Every day, I’m going to post what I spent on that day in July, plus what I spent that day. The rules for spending in August are fairly simple:

Allowed to buy: food, gas, and wine.

Here’s where it gets a little mucky - I’m also buying one birthday present and one wedding present for a birthday and a wedding, both occurring in August. And I’m getting one pedicure (going to the beach in August) and two eyebrow waxings (because I may strive to save money but I will never strive to look like Frida).

Not allowed to buy: clothes, shoes, books, makeup, hard drives (I desperately need a new one), purses, furniture, phone stuff, video games, etc etc etc.

So. Worst case scenario, I have a breakdown somewhere in the third or fourth week of the month (or you guys get bored as hell). Best case scenario, I save a bunch of money and master the dual arts of daily posting and the Tumblr queue.
